As we close out our first #BCCSpotlight series it has been a true pleasure to share some great creators, artists, and writers in the comic book field! And today’s #BCCSpotlight is really special, as ¼ of the #BlackComicsChat team I would be remiss not to recognize the writer and creators of the comic #SnowDaze @marcus_kwame and Leonardo Faierman!! Current New York natives (Albany and NYC) Marcus and Leo are quite the force when it comes to comics !! Marcus brings the illustrations and Leo pens the artistic lyrics. If they individually or collectively are not on your radar, you should change that today! In and out of comics both Marcus and Leo have a passion for each of their crafts and it shows in their work constantly! Not only do they give you commentary on #BlackComicsChat but they contribute to the craft as well! This 30+ year veteran in the comic book industry is not only the creator of the comic book series #Purge but owner of #AMARAEntertainment . Inspired by the lack of heroes of color, Pitt has made creation of these heroes a reality! Pitt brings to the table a reflection of unapologetic blackness, creativity, and pride! Today’s #BCCSpotlight is a “cultural worker, educator, writer, organizer” and creator of the social/political comic “(H)afrocentric”, Juliana “Jewels” Smith @hafrocentric . Based in the West Coast Smith creatively uses her voice to discuss such topics as racial and gender equality/justice, current politics laced with humor through her comic. Being able to create a space within comics that represents women of color voices and speak to the current day issues is is much needed. Smith definitely embodies what it means to provide a visual, literary entertaining medium. Nothing like offering a visual critique! #ArtAsActivism #SharingIsCaring #RepresentationMatters

We are coming into the homestretch of our spotlight series! And today’s #BCCSpotlight goes to film, comic and graphic novel writer David Walker @mofoman68 !! A past guest of #BlackComicsChat , Walker has an amazing body of work particularly in the comic book arena. His work includes the Dynamite Entertainment series “Shaft”, Marvel Comics “Power Man and Iron Fist”, “Nighthawk”, “Secret Wars: Battleworld” DC Comics “Cyborg”, and Dark Horse Comics “Number 13”, among others. Walker’s work is also notable in the film and cinema genre as well. One thing without question about Walker is his passion and commitment. What he gives to you is the raw deal, whether you like it or not! Whether it’s about current day issues/events, a comic book series, or a film, Walker’s voice is heard. As result, dedication to his craft just comes second nature for him. Nothing like telling the truth! #SharingIsCaring #RepresentationMatters
